(Hans) George Summers, was Oliver Perry's great great grandfather. George Summers came to America on September 22, 1752. He was born in Germany shortly after the year 1690. He came over on the ship "Brothers" and landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was married to Elizabeth, and they had six sons and one daughter namely: Philip, Henry, John, Martin, George, Peter and Margar-etha. Two of their sons, Philip and Henry, however, did not come over with their parents, but arrived two years later on September 30, 1754, on the ship "Edinburg" also landing in Philadelphia. In church records, his name appears as Hans George Sommers. Five of his sons served in the Revolutionary War under the direct command of George Washington. | |

It is also further understood by the above bequeathed to Samuel and George Summers that stream of water that turns the mill bequeather to George Summers is to enjoy the benefit of said stream for the benefit of said mill as it now passes it into the channel & also bequeathed to George Summers that he not injured by said Samuel Summers or obstructed in the passage of said waters to said mill but that the waters shall have a free and natural course in their channels to said mills making in all to my two sons Samuel and George Summers two hundred and fifty acres to be theirs and their heirs forever. Nevertheless, the said Samuel and George are to pay annually to the rest of my heirs hereafter named of fifty pounds each until the sum of six hundred and fifty pounds are payed by them and for the better understanding of the above bequeathages to Samuel and George Summers it is to be understood that Samuel Summers is to have the part of my plantation that I now live with all the buildings and improvements that are thereon, and George Summers is to have the lower part of the plantation including the saw and grist mill, still house also & still vessels thereunto belonging. I also will and bequeath unto my two sons Samuel & George Summers an old set of blacksmith tools & an old low plantation waggon to be equally the property of each of them & I also will and bequeath unto my son George Summers the one third of the grain now sowed on my plantation my personal estate, vis. Horses cows and stock with my farming utensils also my household furniture I allow to be disposed by the discretion of my Executors at public sale and the money arising therefrom after my Just debts and funeral charges are paid to be divided amongst my heirs in the following manner vis, son Andrew Summers, Christianna Senek, Phillip Summers, George Summers, Julianna Fawver, Sarah Summers, these to have an equal share of the make alls proper. I also will and bequeath of the money coming from my two sons Samuel and George Summers shall have one hundred pounds and my son Philip Summers one hundred pounds and my son John Summers deceased his sons & daughters one hundred pounds each fifty pounds. And also my daughter Elisabeth Grass's children seventy-five pounds less of daughter Christiana Senek I allow seventy-five pounds also my daughter Jullianna seventy-five & my daughter Sary seventy-five pounds amounting to the above six hundred pounds it is also my will and desire for my two sons Samuel & George Summers to make first payments in twelve months of or after the recording of this my last will and pay first to Andrew Summers and Christianna Senek fifty pounds each and so along all the all received in the like proportion. Lastly, I will and appoint my beloved sons Andrew Summers and Phillip Summers Executors of my real and personal estate and to hereby disannul and abragate all other wills heretofore made by me and to constitute this my last will and testament. |
