He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury, and was also a 50-year member of Meyersdale Lodge 554, F & AM, and Jaffa Shrine; and a member of Pittsburgh Consistory. Funeral service was held in Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, Sept. 15, with Rev. Ernest N. Rumbaugh officiating. Interment in Salisbury IOOF Cemetery.

Thomas J. Wagner died at his home in McKeesport on Sunday, Sept. 19, a little over a month before his 67th birthday. He was born in Salisbury on October 30, 1887, son of Silas A. and Elizabeth (Wright) Wagner. Mr. Wagner was a meat cutter by trade and a former store owner and operator. He was a veteran of World War I. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Laverne Kreitsburg Wagner, he is survived by one brother, T. Fred Wagner of Salisbury, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Musser of Berlin. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Ira S. Monn officiating. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. on 23 September 1954.

Born Oct. 30, 1903, in Springs, he was a son of the late Carr and
Fannie (Durst) Wagner.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Holzshu, and daughter,
Mrs. Carol Zerfoss, Salisbury RD 1; also three grandchildren, and two
sisters: Mrs. Jesse Hillegas and Mrs. John George, both of Randolph,
Ohio.
He was a member of the church council of St. John's Lutheran
Church, Salisbury; Blue Lodge No. 554, F & AM, and Hebron Chapter No.
272. Employed by Queen City Dairy, he served as field man and milk
inspector.
Funeral service was held in St. John's Church, Salisbury, on
Saturday morning, with Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment
was made in IOOF cemetery, Salisbury.

He married Mary, daughter of Jacob DE HAVEN, of Elk Lick township and their children are: Malvina, wife of Abraham GREENAWALT; Alfred, married Phoebe MCFADDEN; Cathrine, wife of Herman FERNER; Elizabeth. wife of Edward RICHTER; Peter; William, mentioned at length hereinafter; Joseph. married Rebecca_ Wright; Charlotte, wife of John MCCLAVEY; Harriet, wife of John Ringler; Lock, married Christina MATHENY; and Jasper NEWTON.

William WAGNER, son of Jacob and Mary (DEHAVEN) WAGNER was born on July 3, 1840 on the old farm in Elk Lick Township, and received but few advantages of education, attending the public schools only about two weeks in each term until the age of 15. He was about 13 when his father died, and from that time was obliged to aid in the support of the family by working on farms as a day laborer. In 1861, he enlisted in Company A, Tenth Regiment, Pennsylvania Reserves, and nine months later he was discharged on account of physical disability. On his return home he learned the cooper's trade at Wymer's Grove and followed that calling until 1874, after which he was variously employed until 1877, when he went to West Virgina and there engaged in farming. At the end of a year he returned to his native county and for four years led the life of farmer in Greenville Township. He then bought a farm on which he has since made his home. He has served one term as supervisor, and is a Republican and a member of the Reformed Church of Salisbury.

Mr. WAGNER married, December 28, 1876, Elizabeth, daughter of Henry RIMBOLD, of Greenville Township, and the following children were born to them: Joseph; Alice; Marie; Jacob; Albert; and Martha. The Samuel Glotfelty house, at the corner of Grant street and the Broad alley, was built by Jacob Fuller, who kept a tavern in it. It was kept as a tavern until 1850, William De Haven being the last landlord. The first brick house was built by Benjamin De Haven in 1849. Tunison Glotfelty has rebuilt it. The second one was built by Elijah Wagner, who kept a store in it. This house, which was opposite Leochel's hotel, has been torn down.

William WAGNER, of Elk Lick is a grandson of William WAGNER, who for Meny years followed his trade, which was that of a saddler. About 1800 he came from Adams County to Salisbury, where he passed the remainder of his life. He was the father of the following children: Jacob, mentioned at length hereinafter, Elijah; Peter; Baltzer; Henry; Philip; Charolette; Sarah; and Julia A.

Jacob WAGNER, son of William WAGNER, was a stonemason bt trade. He married Mary, daughter of Jacob DE HAVEN, of Elk Lick township and their children are: Malvina, wife of Abraham GREENAWALT; Alfred, married Phoebe MCFADDEN; Cathrine, wife of Herman FERNER; Elizabeth. wife of Edward RICHTER; Peter; William, mentioned at length hereinafter; Joseph. married ______ Wright; Charlotte, wife of John MCCLAVEY; Harriet, wife of John Ringler; Lock, married Christina MATHENY; and Jasper NEWTON.

William WAGNER, son of Jacob and Mary (DEHAVEN) WAGNER was born on July 3, 1840 on the old farm in Elk Lick Township, and received but few advantages of education, attending the public schools only about two weeks in each term until the age of 15. He was about 13 when his father died, and from that time was obliged to aid in the support of the family by working on farms as a day laborer. In 1861, he enlisted in Company A, Tenth Regiment, Pennsylvania Reserves, and nine months later he was discharged on account of physical disability. On his return home he learned the cooper's trade at Wymer's Grove and followed that calling until 1874, after which he was variously employed until 1877, when he went to West Virgina and there engaged in farming. At the end of a year he returned to his native county and for four years led the life of farmer in Greenville Township. He then bought a farm on which he has since made his home. He has served one term as supervisor, and is a Republican and a member of the Reformed Church of Salisbury.

Mr. WAGNER married, December 28, 1876, Elizabeth, daughter of Henry RIMBOLD, of Greenville Township, and the following children were born to them: Joseph; Alice; Marie; Jacob; Albert; and Martha.
